IT engineer, technology enthusiast and student at Warsaw University of Technology - leading technical university in Poland (according to Perspektywy.pl). Having obtained a BEng in Information Systems Engineering I tried to prove myself as a skilled practitioner in Denmark (Danmarks Tekniske Universitet) and Ireland (Microsoft EDC). Now, the time has come to finish an MSc in Artificial Intelligence. I have been also participating actively in student life (e.g. associations, conferences, charities, etc.). Just use the visualization on the left to figure out who I am...

Activities

I spend a lot of my free time playing sport. Just for health and fun. In addition, thinking processes exploit the brain thoroughly, so innovative ideas will not come and knock on the door of an exhausted mind.

My favourites are team sports, since I like to compete in a fair manner. Also cycling around Masuria could improve one's mental performance.

Masuria

My homeland. I am simply surrounded by wonders of the Nature. The landscape was shaped by three glaciations and varies from the rest of the country.

It is the best place for calm, pleasant holiday among forests, lakes, wildlife and gothic reminiscences of the Middle Ages - castles. Come here to swim, sail, sunbathe, wander, cycle, lie on a beach, beneath trees, in a sailboat or go sightseeing. The hardest part is to make a choice.

Sports

The purpose of every sport activity is to improve one's health, spirit and relations with the others.

That is why I do it a lot.

@sports

Football

Despite the fact I play it quite often, I like Spanish La Liga and particularly biennial El Clasico event between Real Madrid and F.C. Barcelona. Final stages of the UEFA Champions League attracts my attention too along with international matches of Polish national team.

@sports

Basketball

To put it simply - streetball for fun. Sometimes you can find me watching some of the NBA games highlights (as my timezone is GMT+1).

@sports

Running

I've been running not for long - since 2010, but it has turned out to be really addictive. I don't hold any track and field records, but this particular activity is aimed only at keeping fit and up-to-date with fresh air.

Cycling

What is the most appealing aspect of riding a mountain bike in Masuria? That if you like taking photos it's hard to control a handlebar then :) Just check out my vicinity to make your own opinion: google.maps.mylocation

Charity

Working for the good of the others is one of the most important aspects of one's life, as it constitutes its true value and accounts for one's identity. Everyone who cannot pursue only their own goals is ignited by the force of true love and helps people around.

There are many ways that can be followed according to one's talents. I have chosen. And you?

Christianity

I belong to the Roman Catholic Church. That short sentence carries a lot of information about me that I hope you understand.

Some associations I am a member/supporter of:

Some technical documents (from an engineering point of view):

Information Technology

The picture above presents the most crucial achievements in information science that began the process of world transformation. You might argue that P = NP? remains unsolved and hence it is not an achievement. But it spurred people to develop theory (and applications in consequence) in order to work it out. Those three concepts are:

But I am rather an engineer than a computer scientist. Therefore the lower levels of the IT tree present you with my "applied approach" interests.

Summer internship at Microsoft EDC

Internship at Microsoft EDC

In summer 2011 I worked for Microsoft European Development Centre, Dublin. Great experience, outstanding talents there and cutting-edge development. It can really amaze one during their first days. Highly recommended :) Due to confidentiality rules, I cannot give any further details of what I worked on there.

Databases

I have always been interested in problems like:

That spurred me to learn and apply technological concepts in modern database systems. Here is my experience:

Software Engineering

To be honest: it is really interesting aspect of information technology, but I do not see myself as a manager that is out-to-date with technological advancements. I consider it like methodology of producing reliable software at low cost (reliable and at low cost sound peculiar together, but software engineering should minimize discrepancy between them).

I have completed several engineering courses at my home university, got aquainted with UML and Z language, used tools like IBM™ Rational Software Architect, Sybase™ PowerDesigner, Eclipse plugins for testing and last but not the least experienced goods and bads of monolithic and agile processes for building information systems.

Association for Computing Machinery

This is huge. I had been looking for the best proportion of scientific and technical content in one text and a couple of years ago fortunatelly I found out "Communications of the ACM" - a proprietary magazine of the ACM.

This is not another Google ad. It is merely my personal view that I like to share.

There you go when you want to be extremely up-to-date with advancements of the cutting-edge technology. Information technology gets obsolete very quickly and therefore it is an essential for each engineer to be familiar with new ideas that emerge and go into orbit every month.

Studies

You can call it Computer Science. But even complex computers are still machines (fascinating though). Therefore I usually put more emphasis on information as it is the matter shaped by the forces of computation.

We can store, process, serve data and the way we are doing it changes the way people live. In the previous century we started the process of machine learning. Finally, the idea of intelligent computation is related directly to philosophy. Interested? Follow me.

Warsaw University of Technology

This is my Alma Mater, one of the most renown technical universities in eastern Europe. She has turned out many generations of skilled engineers who have been developing cutting-edge technology in Poland and around the world as well. According to the official WUT website:

"The knowledge and skills imparted to its students and the scientific studies it conducts must always serve Man and Mankind."

The Faculty of Electronics and Information Technology

This is an exemplar of the excellent place to study. The enormous construction located next to the Main Building relishes a small, peaceful park with tall trees that isolate students from the city noise. Up-to-date knowledge it possesses and cooperation with the industry are key factors to understand why so many people decide to study here.

Generally, the faculty is divided into three main parts: electronics, computer science and telecommunications. I have joined the Institute of Computer Science community where I work on my Master's.

Interests

I am particularly interested in the following areas of the computer science:

Technical University of Denmark

I participated in the Erasmus students mobility programme from September 2010 till January 2011. I had a chance to study at Technical University of Denmark, one of the most renown in Europe (according to the ARWU ranking).

The most important outcome? Practical skills learnt from working in a collaboration with Danish industry.

Bachelor's Degree

In June 2011 I graduated from the Warsaw University of Technology with the Bachelor of Engineering degree. The main part of my thesis and project "Knowledge Discovery and Software Development for Pediatric Clinical Applications" involved fruitful cooperation with The Children’s Memorial Health Institute in Warsaw. Research was carried out, software classification agent was developed and results were published in the SPIE article.

My adviser Professor Jan Mulawka is currently carrying out research at Warsaw University of Technology in areas such as machine learning, genetic algorithms, expert systems.

Portfolio

During my education I completed some projects which I want to share with IT students all over the world. Some of them stand only for my practical skills in a particular field. Nevertheless, I present you my resources to which I have got copyrights; should you use them, ask before :) Hopefully you might find something valuable out there.
